TO NEO MONTELO ‘RIGHT-HANDER’ ΠΡΟΣΤΙΘΕΤΑΙ ΣΤΗ ΣΕΙΡΑ BIG PILOT ΤΗΣ IWC

Η IWC Schaffhausen για πρώτη φορά παρουσιάζει μια νέα έκδοση του δημοφιλούς Big Pilot’s Watch σχεδιασμένο για να φοριέται στον δεξί καρπό. Η ειδική αυτή έκδοση του κλασικού μοντέλου της IWC κυκλοφορεί με το όνομα Big Pilot’s Watch Edition ‘Right-hander’.

Εμπνευσμένο από το Big Pilot’s Watch Calibre 52 TSC από την δεκαετία του 1940, διαθέτει αρκετά ευρύχωρη κάσα διαμέτρου 46,2 mm, καθώς και την ίδια εντυπωσιακή σχεδίαση που χαρακτηρίζει ολόκληρη την οικογένεια και προσομοιάζει τα όργανα ενός cockpit. Το νέο ιδιαίτερο χαρακτηριστικό της αναθεωρημένης έκδοσης είναι η θέση της θρυλικής, κωνικού σχήματος κορόνας του ρολογιού, η οποία έχει τοποθετηθεί τώρα στην αριστερή πλευρά της κάσας. 

Το ‘Right-hander’ είναι πολύ πιο πρακτικό για όσους προτιμούν να φορούν το ρολόι τους στον δεξί καρπό. Δεδομένου ότι σχεδόν το 40% των πιλότων είναι αριστερόχειρες και συνεπώς φορούν το ρολόι στο δεξί τους χέρι, πρόκειται για μια ουσιαστική εξέλιξη για τη σειρά αυτή της IWC, με τη μακρά ιστορία στον τομέα της αεροπλοΐας. 

Σχολιάζοντας το νέο μοντέλο, ο CEO της IWC Schaffhausen, Christoph Grainger-Herr δήλωσε: «Είμαι πολύ ευχαριστημένος που ξανασχεδιάσαμε ένα από τα πιο αναγνωρίσιμα σύμβολα στο πορτοφόλιο της IWC. Αγωνιζόμαστε διαρκώς για να διευρύνουμε τα όρια της μηχανικής και της σχεδίασης και αυτό το νέο ρολόι αποτελεί χαρακτηριστικό παράδειγμα αυτής της προσπάθειας. Διαθέτει όλα τα χαρακτηριστικά που θα περίμενε κανείς από ένα Big Pilot αλλά με μια σημαντική διαφορά».

Το «Right-hander» (Ref. IW501012) τροφοδοτείται από τον μηχανισμό 52010 της IWC και διαθέτει κάσα από ανοξείδωτο ατσάλι, η οποία στο εσωτερικό της περιλαμβάνει μια στρώση από μαλακό σίδερο για την προστασία του μηχανισμού από τα μαγνητικά πεδία. Το αυτόματο σύστημα κουρδίσματος Pellaton είναι φτιαγμένο από κεραμικά μέρη και έχει απόθεμα ενέργειας διάρκειας 7 ημερών. Το λουράκι είναι φτιαγμένο από μαύρο δέρμα μοσχαριού. 

Το καντράν σε χρώμα σχιστόλιθού, διαθέτει ένδειξη του αποθέματος ενέργειας στη θέση ώρας «9», μικρό δείκτη δευτερολέπτων στη θέση ώρας «3» και ένδειξη ημερομηνίας στη θέση ώρας «6». Οι δείκτες και τα σύμβολα του καντράν φωσφορίζουν ώστε να είναι ευανάγνωστα ακόμη και τη νύχτα ή σε συνθήκες χαμηλής ορατότητας. 

Το καινούργιο ρολόι που αποτελεί μια συναρπαστική προσθήκη στο πορτοφόλιο της IWC, κυκλοφορεί σε περιορισμένο αριθμό 250 τεμαχίων και διατίθεται από τις IWC Boutiques και εξουσιοδοτημένους μεταπωλητές από τον Αύγουστο 2019, με τρεις μήνες αποκλειστικότητας για τις αγορές της Γαλλίας και της Αυστραλίας. 

NEW “RIGHT-HANDER” EDITION JOINS IWC’S BIG PILOT LINE

Schaffhausen, August 2nd 2019 – In a first for the company, IWC Schaffhausen has presented a new version of its coveted Big Pilot’s Watch to be worn on the right wrist. This special edition of the classic IWC model will be known as the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Right-hander”.

Inspired by the Big Pilot’s Watch Calibre 52 TSC from the 1940s, it has a generously proportioned case diameter of 46.2 millimetres, as well as the same eye-catching design seen throughout the family, which imitates easy-to-read cockpit instruments. The new twist for this revised edition is the positioning of the iconic, conical-shaped crown, which is located on the left-hand side of the case.

The “Right-hander” is much more practical to operate for those who wear their watch on the right wrist. Given that almost 40 percent of pilots are thought to be left-handed, and therefore wear their watches on the right, it is perhaps a fitting development for this IWC line, which has such a rich history in the field of aviation.

Driven by an IWC-manufactured 52010 calibre, the “Right-hander” (Ref. IW501012) has a stainless-steel case with a soft-iron inner case, which protects the movement against the effects of magnetic fields. The automatic Pellaton winding is fitted with ceramic components and builds up a seven-day power reserve in the twin barrels. The strap is crafted in black calfskin leather.

The slate-coloured dial features a power-reserve display situated at “9 o’clock”, a small seconds hand at “3 o’clock”, and a date display at “6 o’clock”. The luminescent indices and hands guarantee optimum legibility, even at night or in poor visibility conditions.

An exciting addition to IWC’s portfolio, the new watch - released as an edition of 250 pieces - will be available at IWC Boutiques and authorised retailers from August 2019 with 3 months exclusivity in Australia and France.
